$4.2bn Babylon to go public at 11-13x revenue multiple

Global digital health platform Babylon Health will IPO through a $4.2bn merger with SPAC Alkuri Acquisition Corp. The deal gives it a 13x revenue multiple of the $4.2bn equity value and 11x a $3.6bn enterprise value. The move comes as Europe's players increasingly look to the States as a more scalable market. Despite just launching there last year, 70% of Babylon's revenues now come from the States.

Kaia Health raises $75m to develop motion tracking solution

Europe's most funded digital therapeutics start-up Kaia Health has raised a $75m Series C bringing its total amount raised to date to over $100m. CEO Konstantin Mehl tells HBI it will be spent on building the commercial team in Germany and the States as well as developing its motion detection solution used for treating chronic pain on mobile phones.

The evidence needed for health apps is changing

The quick rise of health apps has meant processes for approval and reimbursement have largely replicated ones for bringing new drugs to market. That is now starting to change, with many of the new reimbursement schemes recognising a need for real-world evidence over randomised clinical trials and new standards being created specifically for apps.

Digital coaching start-up Liva Healthcare raises €24.5m

Digital coaching group Liva Healthcare has raised €24.5m, led by Verlinvest, as it targets expansion into Germany and Benelux states. CEO Andre Sode tells HBI that providers using the tool can better monitor up to five times more patients annually.
