Where are the gaps in global radiotherapy coverage? This infographic, part of Medipass’ presentation at our HBI 2018 conference, clearly shows the areas which are least, and best covered.
Currently, growth in radiotherapy is being driven by technological innovations which are shifting care from palliative to curative, and demographic changes mean populations are ageing and requiring more services. The improvement of healthcare systems in emerging countries and economic changes improving treatment affordability are also driving growth in this sector.
Challenges for mature markets include straddling higher patient expectations with continuous budget pressure. In emerging markets, huge gaps need to be filled in terms of inequalities, technology, know-how, training and quality of services.
