How M&A in the lab sector has consolidated market share
A handful of lab companies have emerged in the last 3-4 years as pan-European players through M&A. This week HBI takes a snapshot look at the market share of the ‘pan-European acquisitive six’ in different markets.
We’ve chosen Sonic Healthcare, Synlab, Unilabs, Medicover, Cerba, and Eurofins as the main European consolidators due to significant M&A activity. There are some consolidators in home markets (Biogroup LCD, Amedes, Diagnostyka) that take up a sizeable chunk of the market but have yet to move elsewhere.

It shows that much of the market is yet to be consolidated even in Europe’s biggest markets (France and Germany) and less space in its smaller ones like Sweden.
