Infographic: Q2 results for EMEA acute operators (so far)

The COVID impact on the second-quarter results of EMEA’s hospital and acute care operators is a hugely mixed picture, as per recent disclosures from operators in Germany, Spain, Russia, Portugal, South Africa, the Nordics and the US. Some are barely affected thanks to state protection, while others have seen hefty double-digit drops.

As you can see in the chart below, German hospital operators Fresenius Helios and Rhoen have fared rather well thanks to generous provision. Nordic operator GHP Speciality Care has also had a more limited impact thanks to a less severe national lockdown, while Russian player MD Medical has also weathered the storm.

EMEA group Mediclinic’s revenues in its home market of South Africa are down substantially, meanwhile, as the country is battered by COVID-19. Finnish group Terveystalos’ heavy focus on non-complex elective outpatient care has also proven susceptible to the effects of the pandemic.

Hospital operators in the US, Portugal and Spain – Helios’ Spanish arm Quironsalud – are down in the double-digits. We covered the Fresenius’ Q2 results in more detail here.
