Tim Clover

CEO

Rayner

Tim has spent over 30 years in the international ophthalmic market including roles in medical technology, therapeutics, healthcare services and private equity.

Rayner is a 110-year-old British company, which manufactured the world’s first intra-ocular lens in 1949. Tim was appointed CEO in 2015 following a period as non-executive director to lead the strategic expansion of the company. Initially this included the disposal of Rayner’s retail optometry business and several acquisitions intended to strengthen the core business in cataract and refractive surgery. It also included the creation of the Ridley Innovation Centre to refocus the company on advanced manufacturing, R&D and clinical education. More recently Rayner has focused on strengthening its direct presence in new countries like North America, Canada, Italy, Spain, Russia and India. In 2021 Tim led the sale of the company to CVC Capital Partners, a leading private equity company, in partnership with the company’s management.

Prior to Rayner, Tim was CEO of Moonray Healthcare for Fidelity International which oversaw the creation of an international chain of eye hospitals amongst other investments.

His earlier career was spent Zeiss and Allergan / AMO focused on ophthalmology.
