This week’s infographic covers the top five elderly care pure players in the UK, ranked by their 2025 revenue.

The UK’s largest for-profit care home operators are dominated by private equity and US REIT ownership. Barchester Healthcare leads the rankings with €1,233 million in revenue for 2024, followed by HC-One with €1,037 million. Both groups were acquired by US healthcare REIT Welltower in late 2025, in deals worth £5.2 billion and £1.2 billion respectively. Care UK, now also under Welltower ownership, with €621 million, while Avery Healthcare is estimated to be around €465 million. Leeds-based Maria Mallaband Care Group, one of the few remaining founder-led operators in the top tier, completes the top five with €330 million. The UK market has seen significant consolidation in 2024-2025.
