Are you keen to write about a complex and fascinating industry internationally? Are you driven by a desire to uncover and write the truth? Are you happy managing a team of three other journalists? If so, Healthcare Business International could be a great fit for you.
We cover private healthcare services around the world – the companies which run hospitals, nursing homes, labs, homecare and ehealth. The sector is growing fast in Emerging Markets and Europe. It is also highly innovative – Indian and Mexican groups have streamlined heart surgery, dialysis and eye surgery. German private groups lead the way in quality. It is rapidly becoming international.
And often it works for the very poor or within the public payor system. For instance, did you know that nearly half all operations carried out in socialist France are done by for-profit hospitals and are paid for by the state?
You will head up our two high quality subscription news services covering the sector in Europe and Emerging Markets which are read by investors, operators, suppliers and insurers. You will also get involved in content ideas for our international conferences.
So what are we looking for?
You will be good at developing and running contact networks – the sources who are a treasure trove of original news stories. You will have a portfolio to prove it.
You are happy on the phone talking to CEOs, analysts and policymakers around the world. You are good at getting through to these people. In fact, you regard getting through as a challenge.
You have some management experience. You are happy to assign work, generous in sharing your skills and knowledge and organised in your approach. You are a star, but not a diva.
You do time management and get deadlines.
You have some experience of financial news reporting. Numbers do not scare you and you understand multiples and PE ratios.
You get a buzz out of business.
You love the idea of a broad and empty canvas, the thrill of jumping into a new feature and building it from the ground up. You like exploring new ideas.
You are academically bright and have the degree to prove it. You are happy when engaged in intellectual discussion.
You are almost certainly an extrovert.
You may have foreign languages, but this is not essential. Really, REALLY good English is!
