Healthcare Business International joins the Europevents family

Healthcare Business International has been bought by the premier relationship broker for the global private equity industry, IPEM, through its holding company Europevents Sas.

Controlled by Gilles Barissat, IPEM is acquiring 100% of Healthcare Europa Limited, trading as Healthcare Business International (“HBI”). HBI delivers unique content on for-profit healthcare services in Europe and Emerging Markets mainly through its annual HBI conference. The sellers are HBI’s founders and owners, Max and Becca Hotopf. IPEM CEO and managing partner Antoine Colson and HBI’s management team are investing alongside Barissat.

HBI has established a very solid brand in European healthcare and with a strong community of C-level healthcare decision makers, investors, and advisors in the industry. Its annual conference is the definitive must-attend event, and its membership service is the leading source of actionable, exclusive, data-driven insights for decision makers and investors in the sector.

HBI will be run as an independent, sister company of IPEM while developing operational and commercial synergies between both brands. The HBI team will be led by its managing director Tom McMullen, who has expertise in building communities and membership businesses. Max Hotopf, the company’s founder, will continue to support the ongoing leadership team in a consulting capacity.

CEO and Managing Partner of IPEM, Antoine Colson, said: “The acquisition is a natural and exciting expansion for the IPEM family. We have strong belief in HBI’s brand and credibility in the health care services market. We are convinced that this is an industry which is growing in sophistication, and which has a need for actionable business insights that HBI is uniquely placed to deliver. I’m looking forward to working with the ongoing management team, led by managing director Tom McMullen, to build an even stronger community of health and care services operators and investors across EMEA. We have ambitious plans to grow the business and, although HBI will continue to operate as a standalone company, we also see potential synergies for HBI and IPEM to work together.”
