Top 5 hospital groups (for-profit) headquartered in Central and Eastern Europe
This week’s infographic looks at the top 5 for-profit hospital groups headquartered in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), ranked by their 2024 revenues.
The data has been sourced from the HBI Intelligence database.
Agel (Czech Republic) tops the ranking at €1,311 million, followed by Penta Hospitals International (Slovakia) with €1,051 million. MedLife (Romania) comes next with €645 million, ahead of Regina Maria (Romania) at €468 million. Finally, American Heart of Poland (Poland) is fifth, with ~€226 million.
Note: American Heart of Poland’s figure is an HBI Intelligence estimate, while all other numbers are taken from company reports. Regina Maria’s 2024 revenue is shown on a standalone basis and does not reflect the subsequent acquisition of the group by Mehiläinen, completed in December 2025. Medicover (€2,091) and Acibadem (€1,422) also generate significant revenues from CEE operations, but as they are headquartered in Sweden and Türkiye respectively, they are treated as international groups active in CEE rather than CEE‑headquartered hospital groups and are therefore not included in this ranking.
