The State of the Regions: An opportunity to listen, learn and share

Healthcare business opportunities are global. Sadly, as COVID has made all too apparent, risks can be global too. Next week, HBI has arranged an all-star virtual line-up to discuss the state of the regions, a three day event covering everywhere from CEE to China.

China remains the big enigma in healthcare services. Mass scale innovation is building giants like Ping An, but it’s a tough market for western investors to crack, and few have succeeded. On Wednesday next week, we talk to the people who know how to do it.

There’s also a deep dive into DACH – by far Europe’s largest market offering huge scope for consolidation  – before a step east into Russia where there’s a lot to learn from fast-growth outpatient models. Is the growth worth the risk? A look at LATAM including its huge payor/provider models rounds off the day.

Our second day takes a similar deep delve into SE Asia, the Nordics and Mena. Asia has some of the fastest-growing lab and outpatient groups in the world. What can we learn from this? Meanwhile the Nordic region has advanced private/public cooperation that deserves study, and leads the way in digital and value health.

Our final day finds us in South Asia (India, Pakistan and Bangladesh) and its fast-growing markets are showing some meteoric growth. CEE is also in the spotlight – replete with opportunities, but how far does popularism impact on this and will it remain buoyant? We end the day with a look at Africa. Vast in scale and large in opportunity, how far is the promise of leapfrogging over older healthcare models holding true – and which are the countries to watch.
