Top private equity-owned hospital operators in Europe by revenue

This week’s infographic shows the top private equity-owned hospital operators in Europe by 2023 revenue. Only groups with majority PE ownership are included; publicly-listed, corporate-owned, family-owned, and sovereign/institutional-owned groups are excluded.

The data has been sourced from HBI Deals+Insights and HBI Intelligence database.

The revenue figures, ranging from €971.9 million to €3.04 billion, reflect how PE investors are fueling growth and consolidation in healthcare markets. This rise in private equity ownership is driven by growing demand for healthcare in Europe and fragmented markets ripe for consolidation.

Note: The figure for Vivalto Santé is Vivalto Santé Group’s full consolidated revenue, covering revenue from subsidiaries Grupo Ribera Salud, Lusiadas Saude and Clinique CIC as well as Vivalto Santé. This also means it includes limited non-European healthcare operations in Canada and Peru, plus technology consulting projects in Chile and the Middle East (Kuwait, Saudi Arabia). However, the revenue mainly reflects European hospital operations and would only be slightly lower if only strictly European hospital activities were counted.
