Where PE invests in health care across EMEA

The UK remains by far the largest recipient of health care PE investments across EMEA, with 25% of all active investments across the 23 most invested-in countries.

In total there were 566 active PE, family office and infrastructure fund investments across the 23 countries.

This graph is by volume; by value it is probable that Germany and France would have a larger share, as they include massive companies such as Elsan, Synlab and Median Group.

Despite having statutory insurance – and therefore at least in theory more private sector-friendly – systems, Germany and France have significantly less by volume than the UK. This is most likely explained by the tight restrictions on private investment into the sector in mainland Europe.
