Graph of the week: predicting private equity exits

This week we gather the timelines of recent PE investments into one graph. From here, you can see where PE has recently exited and when it might do so in the future. Please go full screen to interact with the timeline.

We’ve included all healthcare companies that have revenues around and above €300m across Europe and emerging markets with PE investments. And looking beyond 2018, we’ve assumed that the average length of PE investment is five years. Although there are, and will continue to be, cycles that are much longer and much shorter.

We’ve heard rumours that some of these companies, like Synlab and Unilabs, might be gearing up for IPOs but we’ve chosen to label companies for sale where there is strong evidence that this is the case. This means it’s been publicly reported or we’ve been told by sources close to the company.

We’ve got far more healthcare sector data available on our new HBI Intelligence platform. On there you can see market sizes of key sectors, growth forecasts, the market share of the top players and more.
