Visualising the consolidation of healthcare markets
In this week’s infographic, we visualise how Finland’s big three operators Mehilainen, Terveystalo and Pihlajalinna have consolidated the private healthcare market over the past decade.
The infographic below, one of three currently available to paying subscribers (the others covering France and Romania), illustrates both the growth in the Finnish private healthcare market according to Terveystalo, and the consolidation by it and the other big two from 2012 to 2019.
Green, red and blue each represent one of the operators’ revenue in each given year with yellow showing the remainder of the market. Their market share has almost tripled in this time with several private equity-owned stints as well as public listings providing funds for M&A activity.
