Which type of company controls telehealth across Europe?

There are a number of different models for the operation of telehealth across Europe. This week HBI assesses which type of company dominates the delivery of remote consultations in different markets.

We have divided the main tools of delivery as a) insurers, b) telehealth companies acting under their own brand and c) through occupational or private healthcare. Telehealth companies might be supplying the services behind categories a) and c) but this chart is more to show the point at which the patient comes into contact with telehealth.

As an example, only insurers are offering digital consultations and no telehealth company has been able to operate under its own brand or through a private institution. Whereas in Poland, insurers work with symptom-checker Infermedica but occupational healthcare provider Medicover has built its own digital health capabilities to offer chat-based consultations to its 1.2m members.
