Amma to fetch 12x EBITDA

Caixabank's deadline to sell Spanish care group Amma on 31 June approaches. SARquavitae appears to have pulled out because of the price. We look at the three bidders left in and the possible (high) price and at other Spanish care groups that are for sale.

Facebook for care home residents works for Korian

Korian, Europe’s largest nursing home group, has decided to roll out Famileo, a Facebook like app which can be printed off as a magazine, through all its nursing homes across all five countries. The software is designed to make it easier for relatives to communicate with reisdent. We talk about the results of Korian’s trial of the software with Group Project Manager, Stéphane Revault.

French hospital operator Avenir Santé for sale

French private equity firm Montefiore is exiting its six-year investment with regional hospital operator Avenir Santé and wants to sell its 72% stake in the group. Expect the buyer to be announced in the next two months.

Korian buys in Belgium

Europe's largest care group Korian is buying Flemish not-for-profit provider Foyer de Lork, with 1,000 beds in 14 facilities plus 250 places in assisted living and sales of €70m in 2015. Korian's Belgian operation expands to 7,500 nursing home beds, 500 assisted living places and sales of €290m, making it Belgium's second largest care group after Armonea.

French not for profit SOS Group invests $150,000 in India homecare

Hyderabad based home healthcare player Life Circle Health Services has raised Rs1 crore ($150,000) from Groupe SOS. The subscription-based service for providing caregivers and nurses for chronically ill and bedridden patients will utilize the capital to expand its services in the Delhi region.

Regulators will cut test volumes

Up to 85% of lab tests will be void within ten years predicts Dr Charles Woler, CEO of Eurofins Biologie Spécilisée. Woler said that regulators are looking to cut tests through incentives and also by reducing the range of reimbursed tests.

Orpea closes pricey Sanyres deal

Sources claim Paris-listed care group Orpea has closed a preliminary agreement to buy Spanish nursing home group Sanyres for nearly 13x EBITDA. Spain's market leader SARquavitae only pulled out at the last minute, we hear. But Orpea had the upper hand thanks to its strong financial muscle and Sanyres' asset-heavy operation fitted well with its approach.

Marcel Hermann quits at Médipôle Partenaires

Marcel Hermann, who founded Médipôle Sud Santé in 2006, has quit as president of Médipôle Partenaires, now the third largest French hospital group. He had been named in the ‘Panama Papers’ scandal suspected of tax evasion. There are rumours that the group could IPO as soon as the autumn of 2016.

Antin Infrastructure Partners buys French psychiatry group Inicea

Antin Infrastructure Partners, one of the largest private equity house to focus on infrastructure, has bought a majority stake in France's third largest psychiatry group Inicea for an undisclosed amount. This is Antin’s second healthcare acquisition in less than a year after German lab chain Amedes. We speak to Angelika Schöchlin, Senior Partner at Antin Infrastructure Partners.
