Ameos takeover of Sana Kliniken hospitals approved by competition authority

Germany’s Bundeskartellamt (Federal Cartel Office) has approved the handover of four hospitals in Ostholstein from Sana Kliniken (Germany’s third largest hospital group) to Ameos Holding Ag, the largest operator of residential psychiatry in Germany, having rejected the deal originally in 2018.

Swanton acquires two UK specialist care providers

Getting the over-75s and the immune-suppressed to the front of the queue in Switzerland and 18 of its 23 cantons was the task for Romain Boichat and his team at Soignez-Moi faced last winter. The urgency is shown by the pace. Given the go-ahead on December 23, 2020, the online booking system for mobile phones was up and running on January 4. But the official sign-off awarding the contract didn't arrive until March 31, 2021. Boichart is now keen to offer the software to developing countries and is offering it free to the World Health Organisation.

UK hospital group Aspen Healthcare has been broken up with the core business sold to non-profit Nuffield Health. Rival group Spire has bought one of the remaining hospitals and an NHS Trust bought out another. 

NHS telehealth contracts up for retender next year

Orpea’s share price dips after deal investigation

Orpea, the largest Europe-based elderly care group by revenue, saw its share price fall sharply last Tuesday following reporting by Challenges, a French magazine, that a deal involving the group was under investigation by the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) - but Orpea is keen to stress it is not they who are being investigated.
