Quest Diagnostics changes strategy in emerging markets

Last week Healthcare Nova reported that US-based lab company Quest Diagnostics had sold its Indian medical diagnostics arm to Strand Life Sciences. We also reported that Quest has set up an international alliance of lab companies based in Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Hong Kong and Australia. Are the two moves connected? Saudi deal close as Diaverum appoints new CEO

In a surprise move, dialysis player Diaverum has appointed Dimitris Moulavasilis, the former CEO of imaging group Affidea to take over as President and CEO from 57-year old Dag Andersson, who is stepping down after 11 years, effective Q4 this year. Andersson will continue as chairman of Diaverum Arabia, the group’s Middle East entity which has reached a “framework agreement” with the Saudi government to renew its massive contract there.

Finishing touches being put to first Saudi hospital PPP contract

Healthcare Nova hears that Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital's acquisition of Saudi Airlines' hospital in Jeddah is in the final stages of completion, and once done will be the country's first hospital PPP project. The group beat other bidders that included a European contingent, although a source says the final signature could come tomorrow or just as easily on year from now: "It's by royal decree."

Diaverum posts 90 job vacancies in Saudi Arabia

International dialysis giant Diaverum has posted 90 job vacancies for its clinics in Saudi Arabia, according to local outlets. The group's massive government contract looks set to expire in 2019 and there is speculation it may not be renewed.
