Troubled waters, yet growth potential in Greece’s private health insurance market

Private health insurers in Greece are in the midst of a financial crisis.  Reports from a few weeks ago indicated that insurance premiums could rise by up to 14% in 2025, affecting around 1.2 million policyholders. On January 15, following public backlash and government pressure, insurers revised 2025 premium hikes to an average of 7% for lifelong policies, down from 14.6%. Leading health insurance providers like Ethniki Asfalistiki, Eurolife, Generali, and Allianz adjusted their increases, with others expected to follow.

Poland’s private healthcare poised for growth as Diagnostyka plans IPO

Diagnostyka, Poland's largest private diagnostic laboratory provider, plans to list on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, hoping to achieve a $1.2 billion valuation. The IPO will involve the sale of shares by private equity firm MidEuropa, which currently backs Diagnostyka, holding a 47.83% stake. Diagnostyka’s founders, key management, and board members will retain their shares, and the company will not issue new ones. A portion of the offering, between 5 - 10%, will be allocated to retail investors, according to a press release.

Muface, Spain’s health insurance system for civil servants and their families, may cease to exist as private insurers continue to refuse to participate in the program.
