CMA issues ultimatum to Welltower over UK care home acquisitions

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has given US healthcare REIT Welltower a deadline of Thursday May 14th to come up with remedies to allay concerns it has about the effect of its acquisition of UK care homes on competition in certain local UK care markets.

H.I.G. Capital acquires Spain’s Vitaly Group via Avanta Salud

American private equity firm H.I.G. Capital, which manages around $74 billion in assets, has acquired Vitaly Group, a Spanish occupational health and safety provider. The deal was completed through its portfolio company Avanta Salud, also based in Spain.

Spire Healthcare receives bid from Toscafund Asset Management

Spire Healthcare, the UK’s largest private hospital group, has received a non-binding takeover proposal from British investment firm Toscafund Asset Management, its second-largest shareholder, at 250 pence per share in cash. The offer values the company at around £1.35 billion.

Ares invests in German intensive care provider Linimed

California-based private equity and credit firm Ares Management is joining as a new financing partner for Linimed Gruppe, Germany’s largest provider of out-of-hospital intensive care. It will invest alongside existing lenders global asset management firm                        BlackRock and Hamburg-based investment firm Berenberg, while London-based private equity firm GHO Capital remains the company’s majority shareholder.
