Turkish ophthalmology chain targets Ghana as part of $50m investment

Turkish ophthalmology chain Batigoz Health Group, which already has clinics in several European contries, is planning to strengthen its presence in a $50m expansion. The group says it is about to receive private equity funding from a major Gulf investor and that it aims to reach Ghana by 2017. It also targets medical tourism. We speak to CEO Pinar Massena.

Acibadem charges into Bulgaria

Dalian Wanda to put US$2.3bn into healthcare

A Chinese conglomerate owned by the country’s richest man is moving into healthcare, reports Jing Daily. Dalian Wanda will invest US$2.3bn in three private hospitals in Shanghai, Chengdu and Qingdao that will be run by the British operator International Hospitals group. The hospitals should open within "the next few years”.

Private hospital free zones sprawl across Colombia

Colombia's free market government is fuelling the development of the private sector with economic free zones. The main incentives is a cut in corporate tax from 25% to 15%, VAT exemption in procurement and tariff discounts on medtech imports. Five private hospitals have set up as free zones since 2013, more are set to follow.
