Regina Maria teaser out

A teaser for Regina Maria, the second largest hospital/outpatient chain in Romania went out just before the start of 2015. It is being sold by private equity house Advent International which is disengaging from Eastern Europe.

Advent to sell Regina Maria and American Heart of Poland

Advent International will sell its Romanian and Polish healthcare service businesses in the next year, say sources. Both investments were made after Advent raised its last CEE fund in 2008 which is now being liquidated.

Permira to build new imaging services provider

Private equity house Permira is backing a merger between Mesa Medical, a Pan-European supplier of third party maintenance and used imaging kit, and Asteral, which is the largest provider of managed equipment services around imaging equipment in the UK. The deal will alarm suppliers like Siemens, GE and Philips.

Imaging services provider Euromedic has appointed HSBC to review the business. Bankers expect this to lead to a sale this autumn.

What impact will no co-pay have on the Romanian private sector?

As reported here last week, the National Health Insurance Fund has outlawed all co-pays for National Health Insurance Fund patients apart from a 300 lei overnight charge for hotel services. The government has also ruled that senior surgeons in the public sector can not also practice privately.
