The relationship between payors and providers is changing rapidly. In the USA, Aetna has already moved to a partnership model in which large providers are paid on a per capita basis, rather than by activity. Adopting NHS measures will facilitate direct and fair comparison of standards between the public and private sectors. That will make the UK one of very few countries where such comparison is possible.

He also analyses Mehilainen's mobile app which allows consumers to chat to doctors (with face to face follow ups if necessary) for a flat fee. The app received more downloads than Pokemon Go in Finland during first week of its public launch. Mehiläinen is a leading Finnish social and healthcare services firm with circa 11 000 professional and expected revenues of €700m in 2017.
