Acibadem’s European plans

IHH Healthcare’s Turkish arm Acibadem has big plans for Europe where it recently became the largest player in Bulgaria with the acquisition of City Clinics. It is negotiating to buy in Romania and will build facilities in two other European countries.

Acibadem confirms Bulgarian deal

The Turkish subsidiary of IHH Healthcare Berhad, Acibadem, will buy Bulgaria’s largest private hospital, Tokuda, and up its stake in the chain, City Clinic, for a total of €144.5m including debt. “We will focus on medical tourism,” Angel Angelov, a shareholder at City Clinic told Reuters, before confirming interest in attracting customers from the CSU and the Middle East.

Dunyagoz to strengthen its hospital network

Turkish ophthalmology group Dunyagoz, which runs 22 centres in Turkey and Europe, is expanding to neighbouring countries and beyond.
