Poland’s private healthcare poised for growth as Diagnostyka plans IPO

Diagnostyka, Poland's largest private diagnostic laboratory provider, plans to list on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, hoping to achieve a $1.2 billion valuation. The IPO will involve the sale of shares by private equity firm MidEuropa, which currently backs Diagnostyka, holding a 47.83% stake. Diagnostyka’s founders, key management, and board members will retain their shares, and the company will not issue new ones. A portion of the offering, between 5 - 10%, will be allocated to retail investors, according to a press release.

Affidea, the pan-European provider of community based clinics, advanced diagnostics, and specialist services, has announced the acquisition of Sermesa polyclinics, a well-established healthcare provider in Valencia, Spain. The acquisition is intended to strengthen and expand Affidea’s outpatient and diagnostic services presence throughout Spain, as part of its wider strategy.

Spire’s revenue surge hints at rising private sector opportunities delivering NHS services

On September 12, Spire Healthcare, one of the UK’s top for-profit private hospital groups, reported a rise in revenues and profits. The company stated that this surge was partly driven by increased NHS outsourcing and higher private insurance uptake among working-age individuals.  The hospital’s pre-tax profits rose approximately 12% to £23 million in the first half of the year, with revenues increasing about 13% to £763 million. Spire expects annual underlying profits to range between £255 million and £275 million, having already achieved £130.6 million in the first six months.
